Drone photogrammetry software can output many different files in various file formats. This article describes the formats that can be imported into Virtual Surveyor. The article also describes the vector formats that you put on top of your drone data or that you can work with independently from any drone data.
Orthophoto / topomap raster formats
The following file formats are supported for orthophotos and topographic maps:
- GeoTIFF
- .jp2
- .ecw
- .tif/.tiff +.tfw
- .jpg + .jgw
- .png +.pgw
- .img
Note: .tfw, .jgw & .pgw are world files. They include georeferencing information but do not include information about the coordinate system, which is typically unknown with these file formats.
DSM raster formats
The following file formats are supported for Digital Surface Models (DSM) and Digital Terrain Models (DTM):
- GeoTIFF
- .tif/.tiff +.tfw
- .img
Point clouds formats
- .las
- .laz
Note: Point cloud files are converted to raster elevation models. You can select the point cloud classes you want to include in the conversion. Read more about point clouds here.
Vector formats
The following file formats are supported for vector formats:
- .dxf
- .shp
- .xml (LandXML)
- .txt
- .csv
