After processing your photogrammetry in the Terrain Creator app, you might be wondering where you can access your elevation terrain and ortho files. Your files are stored in the same location as your Terrain Creator project. We'll show you how to access these datasets, explain what the file types are, and share some additional ways you can use these files in the Virtual Surveyor app.
Overview
Access Your Photogrammetric Data Files
In the Terrain Creator app, press Ctrl+E to open the project folder where your photogrammetric outputs are stored. In the project folder, you will see two the geotiff files, .ei and .ii, along with your .tcpx project file.
What are the .ei and .ii output files? The output files are geotiff files that are specifically created for optimal use within the Virtual Surveyor app. The .ei and .ii files are equivalent to DSM and Orthomosaic files respectively:
- .ei = an Elevation Terrain file (akin to a DSM file)
- .ii = an Image Terrain file (akin to an Orthomosaic file)
Load Drone Dataset Files in the Virtual Surveyor App
If you don't use the Open in Virtual Surveyor button and would like to create a separate Virtual Surveyor project or add a new Terrain State to an open project and compare datasets over time, you can use the drag-and-drop feature (or click the choose files button) to load the .ei and .ii files directly into the Virtual Surveyor app. You can also load standard DSM and Orthomosaic files into your Virtual Surveyor project.
