Your computer might have both an integrated (saves energy) and a dedicated graphics card (optimizes performance). Windows does not always choose the best GPU to use for Virtual Surveyor. Lucky for you, you can set the graphics card that is used for Virtual Surveyor yourself.

Check the Currently Used GPU

First, check which graphics card Virtual Surveyor currently uses:

  1. Go to File
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Graphics
  4. The Active Graphics Card is shown as illustrated in the screen below.

If you have a better graphics card in your computer then the one shown, then you can force Windows to use your better card. Read on.

Set the Default GPU

  1. Go to the Windows Search bar.
  2. Type graphics settings and press Enter to open the settings window.
  3. Click Browse under Custom options for apps.

  4. Browse to C:\Program Files\Virtual Surveyor
  5. Select VirtualSurveyor.exe
  6. Virtual Surveyor is now added to the list.

  7. Click on Options in order to set the dedicated graphics card.
  8. Select High Performance.

  9. Click Save.
  10. Your dedicated card is now set as the default GPU.

Restart or Start Virtual Surveyor and check the card that Virtual Surveyor uses now. It should show the dedicated GPU. In the example below this is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX card.
