Virtual Surveyor helps you to compare elevations and manage your projects over time. When the project contains multiple Timesteps, you can display several profile lines and/or switch the timestep shown in the Profile View. The profile lines are simultaneously shown as a graph in the Profile View and on the terrain in the Viewport. This article explains how to add, switch, or remove a timestep in the Profile View. You also learn how to change the color associated with a profile line.

Add a Timestep to the Profile View
The Profile View can show multiple lines of a profile at different dates on the same graph.
- Click the "+ Add Timestep" button in the lower-left corner of the Profile View.
- Select a Timestep in the list to place another profile line on the current Profile View.
- The current Timestep appears slightly thicker than the other Timesteps shown in the Profile View.
The enabled Timesteps are listed in the lower part of the Profile View and a color is assigned to each of the Timesteps.
Switch Between Timesteps
Use the Timeline panel to select the Timestep you want to display. Switch which Timestep you are viewing in the Viewport and it will simultaneously change the profile lines in the Profile View. The current Timestep is always displayed.
Remove a Timestep
Remove a Timestep from the Profile View:
- Click the "X" on a Timestep tab to hide that profile line from the Profile View.
Change the Profile Line Color
You can change the color of the profile line that is associated with a Timestep:
- In the Profile View, click on the color icon of the Timestep tab and select the color of your choice.
