Overview
How to Extract Points
- Select a drawn Surface, Point Grid or drawn Geometry.
- Go to the TOOLS tab.
- Click Extract Points.
- A point is created in the Layers panel for each vertex or point found in the Surface, Point grid, or Geometry.

Example Situations for Extracting Points
Extract Points from a Surface
Select a surface, whether it is displayed as contours or a TIN, go to the Tools tab, then select Extract Points.

Extract Specific Points from a Point Grid
Extract points from a specific area in a point grid. You can use the Area Select tool to select specific points within the point grid, then use Merge Points to single out a group of points, then click Extract Points.

Alternatively, use the Area Select tool to select points from the point grid, then use Copy and Paste (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) to extract the points.
Extract Points Simultaneously
You can simultaneously select a boundary, line geometries, and a surface in the Layers panel and use Extract Points on all of them at once. Hold Ctrl when using Left-click to select as many drawn geometries as necessary. Then go to the Tools tab and click Extract Points.

Tips and Tricks
Show Elevation Levels Along a Geometry
You can use the extracted points to display elevation labels along a drawn geometry.
- Select the geometry and click Extract Points from the Tools tab.
- Select the points from the Layers panel, ensure the Tools tab is still active, and show elevation annotations on the points by ticking the Z box in the Annotate section.
