The Clip tool allows you to crop an Elevation Terrain, Image Terrain, or a Water item to the size of the selected Boundary item. The Unclip tool allows you to undo any cropping you have done to a project item using the Clip tool and return it to its original state.
Overview
Clip
The Clip tool appears in the TOOLS tab for specific project item(s) you have selected, and can only be used in the following situations:
- Found in the TOOLS for Elevation Terrain tab if both an Elevation Terrain and a Boundary are selected.
- Found in the TOOLS for Image Terrain tab if both an Image Terrain and a Boundary are selected.
- Found in the TOOLS for Water tab if both a Water item and a Boundary are selected.
Tip: You can also Clip the Elevation and Image Terrains together when both are selected along with a Boundary item.
Quick Usage Guide
- Select both the project item to clip and the boundary, by holding Ctrl when you click on them.
- Go to the SELECTION TOOLS tab.
- Click Clip.
- The portion of the project item that is outside of the boundary is cropped out.
Unclip
The Unclip tool appears in the TOOLS tab when you select a project item that has previously been cropped by the Clip tool and appears in the following situations:
- In the TOOLS for Elevation Terrain tab on a clipped Elevation Terrain.
- In the TOOLS for Image Terrain tab on a clipped Image Terrain.
Note: You cannot Unclip a Water item that has been cropped by the Clip tool. You will need to recreate a new Water item to Clip it again.
Quick Usage Guide
- Select the clipped project item and go to the SELECTION TOOLS tab.
- Click Unclip.
- The portion of the project item that was cropped out when clipped is restored.
Where You Can Utilize the Clip Tool
- Use the Clip button to merge photogrammetry results and create mosaics.
- Remove unwanted areas of a Water item.
- Crop the outside parts of the project area to create a cleaner presentation of the project site by selecting the Image and Elevation Terrain items within a rectangular Boundary.
