When a Surface (TIN or Contour) is selected, the SELECTION - TOOLS menu becomes available. The TOOLS menu contains tools that allow you to edit, change styling, annotate, or perform advanced functions on your Surface. There are also tools for volumetric work and to modify your Elevation terrain.

Edit Surface | Enables edit mode for a selected surface. The Edit Surface has four options: Remove Vertex, Add Vertex, Remove Edge and Flip Edge. Remove Vertex - allows you to remove vertices directly from your TIN. Add Vertex - allows you to add vertices to your TIN by clicking anywhere on your Elevation Terrain. Remove Edge - allows you to edit your TIN directly by removing individual TIN segments or triangle edges from your Surface. Flip Edge - allows you to edit your TIN by rotating the edge of a surface triangle to better match the underlying terrain. TIN segments can also be removed in bulk. Hold the SHIFT button and left-click while dragging your cursor in the Viewport. Any TIN segment within the selection box is removed.
Auto-Flip Edges | Optimizes TIN edge placement by flipping triangle edges to best fit the active Elevation Terrain. This tool is best used on bare-earth elevation terrains and only works on a selected TIN.
Keep Outside | Keep Outside allows you to remove areas of no TIN segments within your Surface item. Displaying the Surface as contours would then also have an area devoid of contours. This tool is only available for use when both a Surface item and the overlapping Boundary are selected. Your selected Boundary becomes the cutout area, and any TIN segments within it are removed from the surface. (This function is only available in the Peak plan)
Keep Inside | Keep Inside allows you to keep smaller TIN segments that are inside of your selected boundary. This helps you to remove the longer extraneous segments found on many TIN surfaces. This tool is only available for use when both a Surface item and overlapping Boundary are selected. Your selected Boundary is the cutout area, and any TIN segments outside of it are removed from the surface. (This function is only available in the Peak plan) |

Cut/Fill | Creates a Cut/Fill map between the selected surface and the current Terrain State. When used, the tool creates a Cut/Fill item. The Cut/Fill item holds information about the volume differences between your 3D surface and current Elevation Terrain. A visual representation of the Cut and Fill is also displayed in the Viewport, with brighter colors representing Cuts, and blue colors representing fills. Result: Cut/Fill
Stockpile | Calculates the volume between the selected surface and the current Terrain State. When used, the tool creates a Stockpile item. The Stockpile item holds information such as the Net Volume, Material, and Tonnage. A visual representation of the Stockpile is also displayed in the Viewport, with colors related to the material type. The Stockpile data can be exported as a .csv, .shp, or as a .pdf using the Export Stockpile tool. Result: Stockpile
Material Editor | Launches the Material Editor where you can set your stockpile material types. |

Modify Terrain | Changes the Surface Terrain by "molding" it along the TIN surface. This tool is used to create or remove surfaces. For instance, you can take a vegetated hillside and "remove" the vegetation by using a surveyed surface. Conversely, you can create a surface by modeling a proposed haul road as a TIN, and then raising your Surface Terrain to the TIN. Result: Terrain Modifier |
